Michael embarks on his most ambitious journey yet – following the Pacific coastline for some 50,000 miles. The Pacific rim is also known as the Ring Of Fire, as massive tectonic forces push the floor of the Pacific Ocean upwards and outwards. Michael travels through seventeen countries, past active volcanoes, and deserts where it’s not rained for hundreds of years, crossing the snow-capped Andes and through the mighty gorges of the Yangtse. Michael sets off from Diomede, in the Bering Strait, and hopes to return there one year later via Russia, Japan, Korea, China, Vietnam, the Philippines, Borneo, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand and the whole length of the Americas. But right from the start things don’t go to plan…
