A Monty Python DVD double bill!
Monty Python And The Holy Grail
Once in a lifetime there comes a motion picture that changes the whole history of motion pictures. A picture so stunning in its effect, so vast in its impact that it profoundly affects the lives of those who see it.
Classic comedy from the Monty Python team. Join King Arthur (Graham Chapman) and his trusty knights – Sir Bedevere the Wise (Terry Jones), Sir Galahad the Pure (Michael Palin), Sir Robin the Not-Quite-So-Brave-as-Sir-Lancelot (Eric Idle), Sir Lancelot the Brave (john Cleese) and Patsy, Arthur’s Servant – in their search for the mythical Holy Grail. Taunted by a French knight, attacked by a killer rabbit, bombarded with weaponised words from the Knights who say ‘Ni’, dazzled by Tim the Enchanter (John Cleese) and there’s also the Terror of the Cave of Caerbannog. Watch out for the coconuts!
Life of Brian
When The Life of Brian was first released in 1979 it was hailed by most as Monty Python’s finest parody and denounced by a few as the most blasphemous film of all time. But, with it’s infinitely quotable script and unforgettable song, ‘Always Look on the Bright Side of Life’, it has gone on to become an enduring cult classic. Set in 33 A.D. Judea with the accidental messiah, Brian Cohen at it’s centre, born in Bethlehem in a stable next door, who, by a series of absurd circumstances is reluctantly caught up in a new religion, providing ample opportunity for the entire ensemble (Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin) to shine in multiple roles as they question everyone and everything from ex-lepers, Pontius Pilate and haggling to revolutionaries, crazy prophets, religious fanaticism, Roman centurions and crucifixion, forever changing our biblical views.
