As Michael launches a new website we have secured an exclusive interview with his alter ego.
Michael, you’re 72, for God’s sake. Why do you need a new website?
No need to be abusive. Don’t forget that 72 is the new 71
Fair enough. I don’t want to be ageist, but can you make it to the keypad every morning?
Not only to the keypad. I can go beyond the keypad and run for an hour over Hampstead Heath.
Ah. Palin’s travels. That’s a good idea for a website.
Where have you been for the last decade ? palin’stravels.com has been dazzling the world since 2002. And still is. Everything you need to know about where I’ve been in the world, what I’ve written about it, the fabulous photos Basil Pao’s taken of it, and even how many hangovers I’ve had is there for all to see
Then why the michaelpalin.com?
Because these days I do a lot more than just travel –
Ah, so getting up those aircraft steps is not so easy any longer.
Don’t start that. I’ve been to Sydney, Auckland, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, New York, Paris, Rome, Florence and Naples already this year. Unaided
All right, sorry to interrupt.
themichaelpalin.com will cover news of my latest involvements, from Python to the Diaries, to stage tours, arts documentaries, life with the Clangers and reminders of old favourites like Dr Fegg’s Encylopeadia of All World Knowledge, Limericks and Ripping Yarns, as well as links to the various charities I’m involved with. I’ve never really had time to put online before.
Why not?
Well, partly because I didn’t want to bother people. There’s enough out there anyway. But it’s nice to share interests and enthusiasms and new projects
Ah the n-word again. I thought you hated being called nice?
Oh sod off, you old bastard, I’m trying to launch a website.
