Dementia doesn’t care who you are. It’s set to be the 21st century’s biggest killer, with someone developing the condition every three minutes. My close friend Terry Jones is one of those affected. The progress of his dementia has been painful to watch, it’s deprived him of the ability to speak.
That’s why I’ve United Against Dementia with Alzheimer’s Society – the UK’s leading dementia charity.
Last year I joined my friends Carey Mulligan and Michael Parkinson to discuss dementia on the Today programme for BBC Radio 4. We agreed it was time to come together to offer help and understanding, improve care and urgently find a cure for dementia.
