Some of the most unforgettable days in all my travels were those spent with the Yanomami tribe, deep in the remote forests of North-West Brazil. Their way of life was very different from ours, but they were friendly and hospitable, looking after us well and teaching me how they looked after their environment and the balance between nature and human activity.

Now the Yanomami are facing a potentially ruinous threat. Survival International have alerted me to the increasing presence of gold miners on their land. Gold-panning has long been known to pollute the jungle but now the miners themselves are bringing Covid-19 to an otherwise pristine area.
Read Survival International’s report and please help their appeal to save the Yanomami and their centuries-old way of life.
