Now here’s a bit of good news among all the Covid gloom. For the first time since we played opposite each other in Alan Bleasdale’s GBH, nearly 30 years ago, Robert Lindsay and yours truly will be appearing together again on Sunday evening, 28 June, in A Bit of Waiting For Godot.
We both love the play but our various careers have never allowed us the time to perform it together. So this is the next best thing. A half-hour extract from Samuel Beckett’s classic, performed on Zoom from our own living rooms. Because of the conditions we’ve not had much time to learn or rehearse it, but it has a real feeling of intimacy and spontaneity.
To help us raise it above the general Zoom fare, the matchless Joanna Lumley has agreed to play the narrator.
All ticket proceeds will go to the Royal Theatre Fund, of which Robert L is President, to help all those whose work in live theatre has been catastrophically affected by the Covid virus.
It’s a very special one-off, and I wouldn’t want you to miss it…
